By Deborah Iaria.
Data visualisation is the graphical display of abstract information for two purposes: sense-making (also called data analysis) and communication. Important stories live in our data and data visualisation is a powerful means to discover and understand these stories, and then to present them to others. The information is abstract in that it describes things that are not physical.
Stephen Few.
By visualising information, we turn it into a landscape that you can explore with your eyes, a sort of information map.
And when you're lost in information, an information map is kind of useful.
David McCandless.
